Top Jackpots
The highest pay outs on Man of Steel are awarded for hitting five-of-a-kind of the main character symbols. Being as I’m no expert on the world of Superman, describing each has been a challenge. However, the prizes for matching five along a single win line are listed below:
- Superman = 1,000x the line bet.
- General Zod = 1,000x the line bet.
- Faora = 1,000x the line bet.
- Superman logo = 1,000x the line bet.

Game Features
Superman vs General Zod Shifting Wilds
If either the Superman or General Zod “wild” symbols land on the reels, they will shift to a new position on every spin. Zod moves left and Superman always to the right. If they land on the same row, they trigger the Battle for Earth Free Games Bonus.
Battle for Earth Free Games
Landing both Superman and General Zod (or another villain symbol) on the same row will trigger the Battle for Earth Free Games. During this mode, Superman takes to the skies to do battle with General Zod and his warriors.
When the two “wild” symbols meet, the two characters do battle and each of these clashes will create addition “wild” symbols. The free games mode is technically unlimited but it will finish when Superman loses a battle.
Krypton Free Games
Landing the “Krypton Bonus” symbol on reel five will award players with seven Krypton Free Games. This takes the action to Krypton where the symbols pay even higher. During these games, there are 50 pay lines too and up to 10 Jor-El “wild” symbol will lock on the reels for every spin. Finally, these free games can be retriggered.
The enhanced payments during the Krypton free games are as follows for five-of-a-kind:
- Jor-El = 1,000x the line bet.
- Superman logo = 500x the line bet.
- Woman = 200x the line bet.
- Monster with orange background = 150x the line bet.
- Monster with green background = 100x the line bet.
- All other symbols = 25x the line bet.
World Engine Bonus
Landing the “Bonus” symbol on reel five will trigger the World Engine Bonus. This terraforming blast will unearth additional “wild” symbols. There can be up to seven “wilds” added.
Progressive Jackpot
The Man of Steel slot machine is part of the DC Super Heroes Jackpot range. Any single spin can trigger the bonus and once started, at least one of the prizes must be won. Players using any sized bet are eligible to win any of the progressive jackpots. However, those favouring larger bets will be more likely to enter the side game.
The progressive jackpot game is played by collecting symbols representing each of the four progressive jackpots. The higher prizes require more symbols be collected. This, of course, lowers the chances of dropping the real life changing money. Players must select from a wall of hexagons. These will reveal different coloured symbols representing each of the jackpots available.
Regular Symbols
In addition to the game’s higher value symbols, there are also those which do not pay quite as well. These have been inspired by items from the plot of the film, Man of Steel. Each will pay the following for hitting five-of-a-kind along a single win line.
- Fighter jet, or school bus = 50x the line bet.
- Daily Planet, or Camera = 35x the line bet.
- Clark’s glasses, or Mail box = 25x the line bet.
Betting Limits
The number of win lines is fixed on the Man of Steel slot machine. This means that players can only alter the total bet figure. The minimum total bet is just 50p. With its 25 pay lines, this means that you’re effectively playing with 2p bet per line. Meanwhile, using the maximum value of £100 per line bet, the largest total bet possible is an impressive £2,500. Betting this big will require something else of steel too though.

Man of Steel - 100 Spin Experience
If you want to give Man of Steel a spin, but you don't have the time - we've got you covered. Our 100 Spin Experience offers you in-depth insight into what it's like to play this great game. The first thing to note is that Man of Steel takes a bit longer to load than other online slots.
For us, it took about 10 seconds before we could get started. When the game loaded, we set our stake to £2 - which is fair wager that could appeal to players with both large and small budgets.
Even though Man of Steel boasts plenty of great bonus features, they were quite difficult to come by in during our 100 spins. We only triggered the free spins round once - but it was still quite a lucrative bonus. By the end of the bonus round, we earned an impressive prize worth 100x our total stake. It would have been great to try out some of the other bonus features, we still have an entertaining gaming experience while playing Man of Steel. We were able to trigger wins regularly and the impressive graphics really impressed us spin after spin. Man of Steel Slots – New Superman Slots by Playtech
What do you get when you combine one of the best slot developers with Superman one of the most beloved superheroes of all time? A match made in heaven, that’s what. Playtech, known for their excellent work with the Marvel based slots, have signed a multi-year contract with Warner Bros to produce some DC based slots. Among these games will be the new Man of Steel slot machine, a character that has inspired comic book lovers for decades.
Man of Steel Online Slot – Coming real soon…!
In anticipation of the great things to come, Playtech displayed the Man of Steel suit at the 2016 ICE Totally Gaming convention. Their booth boasted with massive displays and big screens, but they also added a conference room where in-depth details could be discussed with fans. In fact, it was their biggest and best display thus far. But regardless of the big screens and fancy set-up, the Man of Steel suit probably got the most attention. Everyone is thrilled to see what Playtech will do with the Man of Steel slot game.
Man of steel suit at ICE Totally Gaming 2016 – Playtech Man of Steel Online slot promotion
It’s not the first time that DC characters are used as slot themes. For example, Cryptologic was the first development team that introduced DC heroes to the online slot community. Using themes that stayed true to the comic books, Cryptologic had games for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash and the Green Lantern. Eventually Cryptologic became part of Micrograming, who also took a swing at two movie based Batman slots.
Aristocrat gaming had even created a slot machine that you can play in land based casinos. They showcased the features at G2E 2014 in Las Vegas (Nevada) where their Superman – Man of Steel slot machine preview made a big success. This slot machine has been a large hit in US casino halls so adopting the character on an online version of the game makes perfect sense for any igaming software provider.
But what is Playtech going to do?
Playtech is going to work on three different Superman online slot games. Two of them will focus on the classic films, which screened in 1978 and 1980. The third slot game will be about the 2013 Man of Steel film. In other words, Playtech is going to brand the Superman character into the world of online slots like never before. They will also develop a Batman slot, which is inspired by the classic television series that aired in the 1960’s, along with the Green Lantern 2011 film.
We are pretty sure that the new Superman: Man of Steel slot game will be built with the latest HTML5 technology to make it widely available for all kinds of mobile and tablet devices. Slots that can’t be played nowadays on an iPad, iPhone (or any iOS device really) or not optimised for popular android devices such as the Samsung S6/S7 have no chance maximising profits and reach the right target audience.
Playtech with more than 600 popular online casino games in their igaming portfolio is a game developer who has pulled out all the stops to make this venture with Warner Bros a big success. And when we say they pulled out all the stops then you can believe they have all their offices, which are global, working on the project. According to Mor Weizer, the CEO of Playtech, this is a partnership where both parties stand to gain a lot. For Playtech it means massive expansion while Warner Bros gets to be part of their popular omni-channel gaming content.
So when is it going to be released?
The release date for the Man of Steel online slot has yet to be revealed (Playtech is not big on doing big game launches and they are even weaker communicating official dates for their product releases). But we have it on good authority that you’ll see them within the year and most likely still in 2016. It would be foolish from them to let the massive publicity of the latest Batman vs. Superman hit movie die off. Although Superman will be a comic book character that will always have an ever growing fan base. So here we go: Man of Steel casino slot for us DC superhero fans? Bring it on!
At what casinos will the Man of Steel online slot be available?
Most certain Playtech flagship casinos like CASINO.com and Winner.com will be one of the first casino operators where the game will be available for demo and real cash gameplay. As soon as the game is live we will give you direct links to the pages. Until then check out the other cool slots these casinos have to offer. There are plenty of superhero and movie themed casino games if you are into that.
We can’t wait to play this casino game. A cool slot full of legendary DC comic book characters!

Man of Steel Wiki Guide
Principal photography began on August 1, 2011, at an industrial park near DuPage Airport under the codename "Autumn Frost". [ 62 ] Zack Snyder expressed reluctance to shooting the film in 3D , due to the technical limitations of the format, [ 63 ] and instead chose to shoot the film two dimensionally and convert the film into 3-D in post production, for a 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D release. [ 64 ] Snyder also chose to shoot the movie on film instead of digitally , because he felt it would make the film, "a big movie experience". [ 65 ] Filming was expected to last for two to three months. [ 66 ] Production took place in Plano on August 22 to 29. [ 62 ] [ 67 ] According to an interview with Michael Shannon, filming would continue until February 2012. [ 68 ]
It has been reported that Canada was discarded on hosting the bulk of production of the new Superman movie due to a lack of military hardware being available. Instead of being filmed in Alberta, Man of Steel was filmed in the Chicago area, Lindsay Blackett, the province's minister of culture and community spirit confirmed. "From what I understand (the production) needed aircraft carriers and the Canadian military doesn't have those. They needed attack helicopters and things like that and we just don't have them and the U.S. was willing to give them whatever they wanted." [ 69 ] Filming then took place in the Chicago Loop from September 7 to 17. [ 62 ] Vancouver Film Studios and Chicago are other shooting locations. Vancouver production took place from September 21, 2011 to January 20, 2012. [ 70 ] The Calgary Herald reported that the Chicago shoot was a unit project meaning that filming could partake numerous establishing shots as well as cutaways and may not necessarily include principal cast members. [ 71 ] IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) Local 212 President, Damian Petti, added that despite the limited number of shooting days—had filming been held in Alberta, it would have included a pair of significant constructions that could have meant a lot of work for local builders: “We had heard there would have been a lot of construction attached to it. So there would have been work for non-shooting crew as well. It was going to be two pieces. The build might be longer than the shoot.” [ 71 ]
To physically be up for the role, Henry Cavill expressed in a interview" It was work. a lot of work! I have always loved sports and physical activities, but I have never worked out like this before. To become Clark Kent, I had to be the best friend of Mark Twight, my trainer!
The program involved three stages. The first was to gain weight/mass. So I spent weeks eating nearly 5000 calories daily while lifting extremely heavy, to grow bigger. I love eating, so this stage was not difficult for me, even though I can understand that some people end up having enough of drinking protein shakes 1000 calories a glass. At the end of this stage, I looked like a swole bodybuilder, and I felt like I was going to explode.
The second stage was to lose fat to sculpt the muscles. I had to do hours and hours of cardio to burn all the fat.
And in the last stage, we targeted specific areas of the body. Mark helped me to make my abs bulge out and my muscles more defined.
The workout program was designed according to the needs of the film. The only thing I did not like is the rowing machine, a machine that simulates the movement of rowing. It is torture!
Today, I'm not as muscular (as then), so don't ask me to lift my shirt to check: I (really) am not!
I can not say that (the workout) was the most difficult part of the filming, because it never lasted more than two hours per day. But on the other hand, it was extremely intense. Mark Twight based his technique on going beyond yourself. After a workout, I was gutted because, instead of slowing down towards the end, Mark asked me to actually work harder and harder for the body to reach its limits. He reiterated that, when one of his clients is able to walk out of the gym, they had not worked hard enough. The real challenge for me, was working the long hours. It was not uncommon for me to spend 16 hours on the set per day!

As for reading up on Superman, Henry mentions finding insight in “Death of Superman” and “Return of Superman,” those are my favorite ones, and “ The New 52 ” is great stuff and “Earth One,” although I know people think that is a mixed bag. With “Red Son,” I thought it was interesting as a different perspective."
He also avoided watching past incarations of the character as stated in a interview" I avoided watching anything which was someone else’s interpretation of the source material. I didn’t go back to the movies and watch them. I didn’t go back to the TV series and watch them. I didn’t want to take that and have that influence my interpretation and my performance of the character. Where the character truly belongs and where the character truly comes from is not from the movies or the TV shows; it’s from the comic books. So I went straight to the comic books and had stacks of them and just read and read and read and read and read. I enjoyed so much learning about the character in such a dense manner. The comic books were my source of material; the TV shows and movies were someone else’s interpretation and so I left that to them."
Michel Shannon expressed while getting ready for Zod : To follow Terence Stamp's iconic performance in the original, it is a [daunting] but I just focused on one day at a time. It's interesting that when we started with this, we did a lot of training together and I think that kind of helped loosen things up a little bit. It is a very physical movie at the end of the day. That's a good way to find your way 'into it' [as an actor].
I don't know if Zod is misunderstood or just 'not understood.' It's all a matter of perspective, like if you're an Earthling you're not going to like General Zod very much because he's basically willing to wipe you out in order to save his people. But if you're a Kryptonian you're probably like, 'Wow, that General Zod, he sure is doing the best he can.' It's all a matter of perspective.
as for working out he mentioned in a interviw in GQ magazine," It's all about the squats, man. These frickin' squats. They've got these things, goblet squats, where you hold the kettle ball under your chin and you squat back down and back up. If it was up to him, you would do those things all the time, that's all you would do. He would line them up from the lightest to the heaviest and you would start with the light one and work your way up to the heaviest one. Somebody pointed out to me recently, "You're pretty tall to be doing all those squats. Squats are hard for tall guys." But dude, you couldn't make any excuses in there. Also lunges are very painful for me because this join right here, where my big toe is [Shannon touches between the ball and the toe of his right foot]… I think I broke it or something. So to do lunges where you flex your toe back, it's very painful. I did whatever he said to do. Mark's a sweet guy - he's got everybody's best interests at heart. He just wants people to be healthy, God bless him.
For A ntje Traue getting ready to play Faora-UI, What I liked about her was that as a woman, we have certain doubts and we think too much sometime about ourselves and all these things, they're not there for Faora. She's a bred warrior. So to really focus on that aspect, that fear is a chemical reaction and that it was bred out of her and she doesn't have it, it's liberating when you actually think about it. That you're just a one-track mind, there's no filter, there's no double-meaning. She gets orders and she answers those orders without a question."
For Ante's 4 month physical transformation into Faora, as said in a Interview by the Superman Homepage " There was an aspect like that growing up in East Germany, the way that school started every day and how they controlled education. It was sort of a daily life experience for me and I tried to remember how that felt like. It has a military aspect to it. But then also, having the time, about four months, to develop this character and to become physically who she is, is actually the life of a soldier. You prep your food in the morning. You know exactly what you are allowed to eat. It's a very strict regimen of food. It's a very strict regimen of working out. And I just lived the life of a soldier/athlete. You just become very precise because food it not for pleasure any more. It's more fuel. You want to feel the strength of the character and not just imagine it. All of that coming together in my memories for the characters experience, I literally did for preparation to create that."
"then maintaining it during the shoot. That means you get up in the morning at 4:30, go to the gym and do something there for an hour, and then you shoot fifteen hours, then another session at the gym to run or just do something , because what happens is you build up a physicality for the character and then you go and shoot for four months, so you have to maintain it for that time. That was the most difficult part for me to of course get there, but then to keep it going for the shoot. It was exhausting."
Michael Wilkinson Discusses Costume Design in Man of Steel
Man of Steel recently hit cinema screens amidst a blaze of controversy, with many questioning director Zach Snyder’s dark and humourless take on the Superman legend. Conversely some have praised his approach as the breath of fresh air the character needed. If the film itself has been splitting audiences so too has the costume design. Principally this stems from Superman’s overhauled hero suit. Depending on who you ask it is either bravely innovative or missing a pair of red underpants.
We speculated that this revamped suit is actually underwear, a foundation garment worn by all Krypton men beneath their armour or robes. However, even though this was our interpretation, it is not necessarily shared by Man of Steel’s costume designers Michael Wilkinson and James Acheson. Thankfully Mr. Wilkinson got in touch with Clothes on Film to explain what we have missed. His insight, we think you will agree, is illuminating.

Amy Adams as Lois Lane with the man himself, Henry Cavill as Superman. According to Michael Wilkinson his suit has, “roots in the past, but incorporates contemporary aesthetics and references”. Incidentally, like alter-ego Clark Kent’s spectacles? They’re Paul Smith.
Michael Wilkinson on… creating the Superman suit:
I was working on another project when Man of Steel began early pre-production, so Zack Snyder, our director, started up with some concept art and initial prototyping from the amazing James (Jim) Acheson. When I came on board, I took these ideas as a starting point and went on to develop my own design ideas. When my designs were approved, that was just the beginning of the process! There were a million design decisions for me to make every day during the complex construction period, the fittings and the shoot itself.
Jim was there at the very beginning, I was there for the rest, but concept artist Warren Manser was there all along! In total he worked on the project for a year and a half, illustrating every detail of the Superman costume. He did literally hundreds of drawings, illustrating many different ideas, and covering every square inch of Superman.
On construction:
The Superman suit is made up of separate layers. There’s an under-layer of sculpted detail mounted onto a bodysuit. Over the top of this we stretched a thin mesh over-suit that is printed with a dimensional chain-mail texture. Then, the final foam-latex elements are affixed – the ‘S’-glyph , the cuffs, the side-body details, etc.
We wanted to evoke a “man of steel” – so our metallic finish has an ambiguous quality, as though it’s an alien metal/armour unfamiliar to us on earth. We wanted our Superman to glow on screen, to create a texture that the camera loves, and make him stand apart from the human race.

Superman’s suit incorporates a subtle metallic sheen, “it’s an alien metal unfamiliar to us here on earth.”
On backstory:
We all worked on ideas of explaining why the suit looks the way it does, so that it is grounded in the film’s story. The chainmail texture was suggested, and I incorporated the design elements of the suit into all the kryptonian clothing. I included the chainmail layer into their costumes, designed glyphs for all kryptonians (which they wear like heraldic family crests), and integrated the cuffs, textures, and other details of the hero suit into their clothing.
We wanted to create our own version of the Superman legacy, one that has its roots in the past, but incorporates contemporary aesthetics and references. This approach made us favour a steely, more textural suit than previous incarnations. We wanted the film to really impact on our audience, to ground it in our world rather than a stylized “comic book” version of our world. We wanted to make people wonder ‘what would it really be like if we discovered an alien being amongst us?”, and so we created a realistic, gritty, contemporary tone for the film.

When Michael Shannon’s General Zod strips off his armour he becomes a “dark version of Superman”. His armour follows the visual lines of Krypton.
The gold headdresses (worn by the Kryptonian council) are based on an initial concept by James Acheson (made by the talented Stacia Lang) – the rest of the costumes are my designs, executed in fabrics custom-made by Matt Reitsma, a phenomenally talented textile artist. We created digital patterns, based on alien biological forms and used them to etch away at velvets, and then we burnt, spattered, beaded and encrusted the fabrics to create the sense of ancient, heavy ceremonial materials that are falling apart. Then the costumes were sewn together at Bill Hargate Costumes in Los Angeles.
On removing Zod’s armour:
We wanted to create that moment where Zod’s costume mirrors Superman’s costume – for the final battle, it is as if Superman is fighting the dark version of himself. Indeed, he is destroying the last chance of the continuation of Kryptonian culture, so it is an incredibly significant moment.

Lois is “razor-smart and highly capable”. Amy Adams wears a combination of – among other brands – Prada, Tom Ford, Theory and for the Antarctica scenes, a Canada Goose down coat.
On Clark at The Daily Planet:
As costume designers we often enjoy planting subliminal suggestions onscreen, hoping that they might resonate with the audience. With Clark, I wanted to bring the warmth and soul of the Midwest into the Daily Planet office so I chose a shirt with a very subtle dark plaid pattern layered under a textural, canvas-y wool-silk sports coat.
On Lois Lane:
I wanted Lois to come across as razor-smart and highly capable – a modern woman who, in her own way, is a force to reckoned with. Amy Adams is the smartest woman on the block, so she made it easy for me! We researched what real-life investigative journalists wear when out in the field and in the office, and then tweaked it to create a memorable look for Lois. We combined Canada Goose down parkas with combat boots, Tom Ford vests and sharp tailoring.
With thanks to Michael Wilkinson.
