Land Based Casinos in Canada

While online gaming is really our favourite, there’s no denying that Canada is home to some amazing land based casinos that deserve a visit. Online gaming opens up a world of convenience, but there is something about land-based casinos’ atmosphere and ambience that’s hard to beat. Canada’s land based casinos are amongst some of the worlds best, and whether you prefer upscale, elegant gaming in a luxurious environment, or a more laid back, casual experience, there’s sure to be an establishment that meets your needs.

World Class Casino Entertainment

There are numerous land-based casinos in Canada’s 10 Provinces and each offers something special. In addition to a great selection of slots and table games many of the gaming venues feature live entertainment, activities for visitors of all ages and a selection of restaurants that cater to all tastes and preferences. There are over 75 brick-and-mortar casinos with luxurious hotels, multiple gaming floors and plenty of entertainment for the whole family. Some of the more famous land-based casinos include the River Rock Casino, Casino Niagara, Casino de Montréal, Casino Nova Scotia and the Caesars Windsor Hotel & Casino.

Why Play at Land Based Casinos?

The most significant feature of a real land-based casino is the experience of complete immersion. The ability to step into a decadent and luxurious world of games and entertainment is what every casino enthusiast dreams about. Aside from the free drinks, the shows, the comps and the lavish dining options, it’s the live casino gaming action that even the best Canadian online casino will try to recreate. If you are planning a trip to one of Canada’s best land based casinos, you may want to consider your gaming options in advance. For many fist-time players, the sheer number of gaming machines and tables can be overwhelming. So where do you start? All top-rated Canadian land-based casinos will have a huge range of games including slots, table games, keno, bingo, video poker and just about everything in between.

Land-Based Casino Table Games

If you enjoy online casino table games, then land-based casinos are the ideal place to get stuck in. Even if you regularly play live-dealer games online, playing at a real table is far more thrilling and intense. Blackjack, Baccarat, Craps and Roulette are the mainstay of any decent casino with tables to accommodate both high rollers and novices. If you feel your skills are not at the level to play at a live table, most casinos will actually have a dedicated room where you can brush up on your skills and learn the basics of the game from a professional dealer. Other gaming options at the casino can include Hi-Lo, Red Dog, Texas Hold’em Poker, 3 Card Poker, Caribbean Stud and Casino Hold’em Poker.

Slot Games

Many popular online casino CA sites offer a wide range of slot games. The same is true for land based casinos. In fact, the gaming floor is usually stacked wall-to-wall with slots in every shape and form. If you are a fan of high quality video slots, the gaming machines will blow you away with their enhanced 3D graphics, digital sound and generous payouts. Land-based casinos also have jackpot slots connected to various casino networks. If you are after big payouts, these are the machines you need to be playing.

Jackpot Slots

Land-based jackpot slots have their progressive jackpots displayed on large LED screens above the machines. The bigger games usually have jackpots that pay out millions of dollars on a single spin. If you are feeling for something different, land-based casinos usually have a section where you can enjoy Bingo or Keno. As with many CA online mobile casino sites, the Keno or bingo games offer real money prizes while still being entertaining and social. Some casinos also offer a dedicated sports betting area where you can bet on live sports games or virtual sports generated through the in-house gaming/betting machines.

of blackjack, there’s a perfect site out there for you.

Nova Scotia Gambling Laws – Can You Gamble Online Here?

Nova Scotia Flag In Nova Scotia

Yes, you can! Nova Scotia, like almost all other Canadian provinces, allows
its residents to legally gamble online. There are a few great options for
players at the moment. The provincial government here runs their own gambling
site. It’s run by the Atlantic Lottery Corporation and offers a range of
different gambling options including lottery games, bingo, and limited sports
betting options.

This site is popular, yet many complain that it doesn’t offer traditional
gambling options such as online casino games and full-scale sports betting
options. For this reason, a huge number of gamblers in Nova Scotia
choose to play at offshore sites. These sites are not regulated by the Canadian
government, yet they are completely legal in Nova Scotia.

In fact, most of the top gambling sites throughout Europe and the US are
available in Nova Scotia. Under Nova Scotia law, these sites are open and legal.
Interestingly, lawmakers here have taken no steps for these sites to obtain a
license and become fully regulated.

It’s not much of a surprise to see these gambling sites grow more popular
than the government-run site. Almost all of them offer considerably more
gambling options. Many of the online casino sites in Nova Scotia provide
thousands of different games, including slots and table games.

The internet sports betting sites in Nova Scotia offer a huge number of
different odds. Members of these sites can place wagers on the NHL, NBA, UFC,
and more. Even the most hardcore sports gamblers will find something to wager on
with these websites.

The legal gambling age in Nova Scotia is 19 years old. The gambling age is
the same throughout all of Canada, with the exception of Quebec, where the legal
gambling age is 18.

In summation, yes, gambling online in Nova Scotia is
perfectly legal. A government-run site is available, as well as a huge number of
amazing Nova Scotia online gaming sites. The popularity of online gambling has
never been higher here. It seems that every single year, more and more people
here choose to make their wagers over the internet.

How to Choose a Great Nova Scotia Online Gambling Site – Step by Step Guide

It can seem a little daunting to find a safe, reputable gambling site. With
so many options to choose from, how can you select the site that’s right for
you? Our team is going to give a quick explanation for how to find the best
online gambling sites in Nova Scotia right now.

Payment Options

Safety should always be the first thing that you look for in an online
gambling website. You may come across a Nova Scotia online gambling site
offering amazing sports betting odds and a wide range of casino gaming options.
If it doesn’t provide you with safety, it’s not worth joining.

Every gambling site has a payment system. Essentially, this is how these
websites process your deposits and withdrawals. There are a few things you are
going to want to look for in these payment systems.

We recommend websites that allow deposits to be made using debit and credit
cards. Withdrawal options tend to be a little bit more limited, but most will
allow bank transfer and Bitcoin payouts. Make sure that fees are not too high
for these. All of the legit Nova Scotia gambling sites today
will process your withdrawals within just a couple days.

Man on Computer

This ties into safety, too. A site’s customer service system doesn’t seem all
that important on the surface. In reality, it’s one of the first things you
should look for. As we mentioned earlier, Nova Scotia does not regulate the
gambling websites based outside the province. For this reason, you will need to
rely on the website that you play at to help you out if you encounter an issue.

A solid customer support system will be around to answer any questions you
have. In our opinion, the best right now is a live chat feature. This allows you
to speak directly with a gambling site employee over text chat. It’s the easiest
and most effective way to find help immediately.

You may come across a few online gambling websites that only offer email
support. We generally advise that you stay away from these. With email support,
it can take weeks to actually get a response. Spend some more time looking for a
site that offers helpful, fast customer service all day, every day.

Quality

Website design is hugely important. It affects your entire gambling
experience. We recommend that you always play at Nova Scotia gambling websites
that offer you a modern design and amazing, sleek user interface.

So, what’s important to look for? In our opinion, the first thing that you
can check out is the homepage of these websites. Most of the time, these
homepages will provide you with almost everything you need. You can find the
complete list of games and odds. The support page should also be easily
accessible from the homepage.

Fortunately, most of the Nova Scotia internet gaming sites
operating today provide amazing designs. Some, however, are known to be a little
less reputable. It’s always smart to check for websites offering a great design.
Your gambling process will be much easier.

Sports Betting Board

This is a no-brainer. There are so many amazing online casinos and sports
betting sites in Nova Scotia, yet some of the less-reputable sites here only
provide a few basic gambling options. You might be surprised to find how many of
those new to sports betting join a website without even looking at which games
and odds are actually available!

Never make this mistake! Always look at exactly which betting options are
available at the sites you are interested in joining. This is much easier to do
than you might think.

Almost all Nova Scotia internet gambling sites allow you to
see exactly which games are available. These games or sports betting odds should
be located directly on these site’s homepages. If these are difficult to find,
the site is probably not worth joining.

5 Stars

This is perhaps the easiest way for you to learn more about a gambling
website. Over the past several years, our team has reviewed many of the very
best internet gambling sites in Nova Scotia. In each review, we dive into the
payment options and overall safety for each gambling website.

A great review says a lot about a gambling site. It should explain exactly
how these sites operate, and whether or not they are trustworthy. Before joining
any site, it’s recommended that you look at an expert’s opinion of them.

Feel free to check out our
review page today. As we just mentioned, we’ve reviewed many of the world’s
top gambling sites. Our team can quickly let you know if the site you are
thinking about joining is safe.

Best Nova Scotia Internet Gambling Sites for Each Sport

Nova Scotia is home to an extremely passionate sports fan base. This province
may produce the top NHL, NBA, or MLB teams, yet a huge number of individuals
here love placing bets on their favorite sporting events. Below are some of the
best Nova Scotia betting sites for different sports.

Nova Scotia Casinos And Gambling

Nova Scotia is one of the country’s three maritime provinces and part of Atlantic Canada. While it is the second smallest of the ten provinces it is also the second most densely populated with most of the population residing in and around the capital, Halifax. In addition to the mainland portion, the province comprises nearly 4,000 coastal islands making it an explorer’s wonderland. Cape Breton Island and Sable Island are part of the province.

nova_scotia_casinos_and_gambling

The weather is more maritime than continental as the peninsula is surrounded by the leveling weather forces of the Atlantic Ocean. Some compare the weather to that of seaside towns in Northern Europe on the Baltic Sea. The small 55,284 square kilometres (21,300 sq mi) province is sometimes known as Canada’s Ocean Playground.

There are only two casinos in Nova Scotia and no First Nations gambling facilities, although charity bingo games are held for community benefits. Casino Nova Scotia has locations in Halifax and Sydney. The casinos are owned and operated by Great Canadian Gaming Corporation in partnership with the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) for the benefit of the Nova Scotia Provincial Lotteries and Casino Corporation (NSPLCC).

The provincial lotteries corp (formerly Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation) is a Crown Corporation and relies on the ALC to run its ticket sales and video lottery terminals. The NSPLCC is a shareholder in the ALC along with the Prince Edward Island Lotteries Commission, the commission of New Brunswick, and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Atlantic Lottery Corporation’s head office is located in Moncton, New Brunswick. There are also offices in Dartmouth NS and St. John’s NL.

It is unclear precisely how many lottery retailers are licensed in Nova Scotia, but players will find tickets available at many retail counters and kiosks. The ALC has approximately 4,000 retailers located throughout the three maritime provinces and Newfoundland and Labrador to serve a total population of about 2,300,000. The corporation also does not list precise locations nor machine counts for video lottery terminals, but locals know where they are located and are always glad to point a visitor in the right direction.

The VLT games, which include spinning games like slots (line games) keno, and a form of video poker are made by top-name developers such as IGT and Bally (Scientific Games). The payouts vary from game to game but are almost always in the 93-95% RTP range.

No matter where they are located, the VLTs are always connected to the Atlantic Lottery’s central computer system and are constantly monitored, but odds and RTP cannot be adjusted “on the fly” from any central location.

As a travel destination, Canada is known primarily for its awesome blend of natural beauty and wonderful cities. But for those looking for specific means of entertainment, the country also offers a number of great casino experiences every bit as enjoyable as those in U.S. destinations like Las Vegas or Atlantic City. If betting on black, or chasing that royal flush is up your alley, here are six of Canada’s best casinos to check out.

jade-room

River Rock Casino Resort

Where It Is: Richmond, British Columbia

Why It’s One Of The Best: The River Rock Casino Resort offers all of the traditional perks of a top-notch casino destination. There are endless gaming options, luxury accommodations, and great restaurants on site, including the Sea Harbour that boasts its own demonstration of Richmond’s status as the “Asian food capital of North America.” But it’s the setting that gives the River Rock an edge. Situated on the Fraser River, it’s a stunning destination that looks equal parts ski lodge and casino resort.

dawson-city-diamond-tooth-gerties-gambling

Casino Niagara

Where It Is: Niagara Falls, Ontario

Why It’s One Of The Best: Like the River Rock Casino, Casino Niagara excels due to the natural beauty of its surroundings. Located a block away from the picturesque Rainbow Bridge near Niagara Falls, the casino naturally draws tourists who are already in the area to see the landmarks. As a result, it tends to have a particularly lively crowd.

Caesars-Windsor-Art-5

Caesars Windsor Hotel & Casino

Where It Is: Windsor, Ontario

Why It’s One Of The Best: Like the Casino Niagara, the Caesars Windsor benefits from close proximity to the U.S., in this case drawing on tourism from Detroit, Mich. Beyond that, it’s a reliable destination in that the Caesars Entertainment group tends to be at the forefront of advances in gaming. The company has a firm hold on many of North America’s top casinos, and even partnered with the Betfair Casino to work toward bringing the online gaming industry into parts of the U.S. This sort of progressive ownership tends to keep the Windsor, and Caesars’ other locations, updated with the best in gaming and entertainment.

Casino-Montreal

Casino de Montréal

Where It Is: Montréal, Quebec

Why It’s One Of The Best: Casino de Montréal may offer the grandest casino tourism destination in all of Canada. According to USA Today’s own countdown of some of Canada’s finest casinos, Casino de Montréal is one of the largest casinos on the planet. It is home to over 3,000 slot machines, 100 gaming tables, and its own street outside the venue. Combine all of that with the fact that Montréal itself is considered by many to be the most fascinating Canadian city for tourists, and this is a must-see casino for travellers.

casino-nova-scotia

Casino Nova Scotia

Where It Is: Halifax, Nova Scotia

Why It’s One Of The Best: It’s somewhat off the beaten path for a major casino, but its gorgeous location right on the Atlantic makes it well worth a visit. As you’ll find reading through Trip Advisor’s reviews on the casino, it’s not the biggest gambling experience in Canada, but many visitors appreciate the cosier and friendlier quality of the casino. If you’re looking to visit a smaller or even somewhat-quaint casino in Canada, Casino Nova Scotia is definitely one to consider.

casino-cree

River Cree Casino Resort

Where It Is: Enoch, Alberta

Why It’s One Of The Best: While technically in Enoch, this is essentially the main casino for the Edmonton area, which makes it an exciting venue. There are lots of gaming options and there’s generally a strong crowd of visitors and gamers. Perhaps the most unique aspect of the River Cree, though, is that it offers a glimpse of Canada’s hockey enthusiasm for foreign travellers. The venue includes full-sized hockey facilities, and many fans hope to see Edmonton Oilers players from time to time.

One Response to “6 Best Casinos In Canada”

What about the Great Blue Heron Casino at Port Perry, Ontario?
The poker experience is outstanding for limit players with 12 tables of stacks of up to $10/$20 which are pretty hard to find in Canada as a whole.

It’s a fully equipped casino, beyond being an awesome poker room.

Here’s the description from Wikipedia:

Opened originally in 1997, with slots and a 650-seat bingo hall, the Casino was extensively renovated in 1999 and 2000. Its floor area is approximately 25,000 square feet (2,300 m2), in which there are now two bars, one restaurant, a slots’ room with 545 machines and a 60 table games. The table games include: Roulette, Blackjack, Spanish 21, Mini Baccarat, Let it Ride Poker, Texas Hold Em Poker, Pai Gow Poker, Three & Four Card Poker and Texas Hold Em Bonus Poker.
